Job Description

Contracts Manager - Refurbishment / Cut & Carve / Heritage
London & South East

A well-established main contractor with over 40 years of successful trading is looking to appoint an experienced Contracts Manager to join its growing team.

The business specialises in complex refurbishment, heritage and cut & carve projects across London and the South East, with project values typically ranging from 5m- 10m and larger schemes reaching 20m.

With a turnover of approximately 40m, the company has built an outstanding reputation for delivering technically challenging and architecturally sensitive schemes while maintaining a controlled, sustainable approach to growth. The business is financially strong, highly profitable and operates with a genuine family feel, reflected in its long-serving staff and high levels of repeat business.

Unlike larger corporate contractors, the company focuses on quality over volume, delivering unique projects with a collaborative, client-focused approach rather than operating as a heavily procedural business.

The Role

You will oversee multiple refurbishment and cut & carve projects from pre-construction through to completion, ensuring successful delivery across programme, quality and commercial performance.

Projects include:

  • Complex cut & carve refurbishments
  • Heritage and listed building works
  • Structural alterations
  • High-end commercial refurbishment schemes

This role would suit someone who enjoys technically challenging projects and working within a close-knit, well-respected contractor environment.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Contracts Manager within refurbishment, heritage or cut & carve construction
  • Strong technical and engineering understanding
  • Experience managing projects within London and the South East
  • Ability to manage multiple schemes and maintain strong client relationships
  • Stable career history with evidence of longevity
  • Collaborative and hands-on management approach

Why Apply?

  • Established contractor with a strong market reputation
  • Secure and profitable business with steady growth
  • Family-oriented culture with excellent staff retention
  • Exciting pipeline of complex refurbishment and commercial cut & carve projects
  • Opportunity to work on unique, technically demanding schemes
  • High level of repeat clients and relationship-led delivery model
  • Supportive leadership team and long-term career opportunity

This contractor operates within the same market space as some of the industry's most respected refurbishment and heritage specialists while offering a more agile, personable and less corporate working environment.
