This is a pivotal opportunity for a Senior Estimator to join a premier Tier 1 Contractor during a period of significant infrastructure growth in 2026. You will lead the pre-construction phase for high-profile civil engineering projects, ensuring accurate and competitive bidding that balances technical innovation with commercial risk management.
Operating within a collaborative bid environment, you will take ownership of major tenders from initial enquiry to final adjudication, pricing work from first principles to secure our next generation of flagship projects.
Analytical Estimating: Produce detailed, analytical estimates from first principles for major civils work, including earthworks, drainage, and structural concrete.
Bid Leadership: Coordinate bid activities and manage multiple contributors to ensure high-quality, timely, and compliant tender submissions.
Value Engineering: Challenge designs and construction methodologies to propose alternative solutions that improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Supply Chain Management: Compile comprehensive enquiries for subcontractors and suppliers, assessing quotations to find the best fit for the business.
Risk & Opportunity: Identify technical and commercial risks during the tender stage, maintaining clear notes and assumptions for senior management review.
Settlement Meetings: Present final net cost estimates at internal adjudication meetings, implementing feedback to reach a final bid price.
Experience: Minimum of 5-10 years' experience in estimating within a Tier 1 or Tier 2 civil engineering contractor.
Technical Knowledge: Proven track record in pricing complex infrastructure such as highways, bridges, or marine works.
Contractual Expertise: Deep understanding of NEC4 and JCT forms of contract, along with proficiency in CESMM4 or NRM measurement methods.
Software Proficiency: Expert user of estimating software (e.g., Candy/CCS, Conquest, or Causeway) and BIM/CAD measurement tools.
Qualifications: Degree or HND in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying; Chartered status (ICE or RICS) is highly desirable.
Site Knowledge: Strong practical understanding of construction sequences and site logistics gained from early-career operational experience.
