The Role The Group Head of HSE is a key leadership role, reporting directly into the Board of Directors and responsible for shaping and delivering the HSE strategy across the organisation. The role oversees Health, Safety & Environmental across live construction sites, regional offices and showrooms/sales offices. Build and develop an internal health and safety team as the business grows Ensure compliance with all relevant UK legislation including: Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, CDM Regulations, Building Safety Act, RIDDOR, COSHH, Working at Height Regulations, PUWER, LOLER. Carry out regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for improvement. Review and monitor risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work. Ensure environmental compliance across all construction sites / offices, promoting best practice and adherence to environmental legislation. Monitor and manage site environmental risks, including dust suppression, noise, waste management surface water management, pollution prevention etc. Person Specification Chartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH). Significant senior health and safety leadership experience within residential housebuilding or the wider construction sector. NEBOSH Diploma (desirable) / NEBOSH Construction / NEBOSH General Certificate Excellent knowledge of CDM Regulations / Building Safety Act. Exceptional leadership and influencing skills. Ability to build effective relationships and communicate effectively across all levels of the business. Demonstrable success in improving organisational safety culture. Experience managing outsourced consultants Understanding of behavioural safety principles. Hands on / 'On the tools' experience working on a building site would be highly advantageous Full UK Driving Licence.
