Principal Urban Designer

Principal Urban Designer role based in Manchester, focused on UK regeneration and masterplanning projects. This position suits an experienced designer with strong UK planning knowledge, leading mixed-use and town centre schemes across varied scales. You will guide projects from concept to planning, working within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment on landscape-led developments.

Role & Responsibilities

• Lead urban design and masterplanning projects
• Develop concepts for regeneration and mixed-use schemes
• Manage design stages through planning submission
• Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams
• Engage clients, stakeholders, and consultants
• Prepare graphics for planning and design reviews
• Oversee junior team members
• Maintain design and delivery standards
• Support project programming and outputs
• Contribute to business development activities

Skills & Experience Required

• Minimum five years UK urban design experience
• Strong knowledge of UK planning system
• Background in design or planning discipline
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe, 3D software
• Experience leading projects and client relationships
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Experience delivering regeneration or mixed-use schemes
• Ability to manage programmes and deadlines
• Collaborative approach within multidisciplinary teams
• Relevant postgraduate or professional qualification

Salary & Benefits
40,000 - 55,000 depending on experience. Includes profit share, private healthcare option, enhanced pension, wellbeing support, and up to 29 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
