Senior Design Engineer Substations- HV Plant

We're looking for an experienced high-voltage substation design engineer to help achieve success on multimillion pound projects ideally within the Midlands.

What You'll Be Doing

• Design substations that meet client needs, budgets, and deadlines
• Help with tenders, contracts, and technical drawings
• Work closely with teams and clients to deliver projects smoothly
• Visit sites often and stay connected with the operations team
• Support and train engineers and CAD technicians
• Join design reviews and help improve standards and processes
• Follow safety, quality, and environmental rules (OHSAS 18001, ISO9001, ISO14001)
• Communicate clearly and professionally across all levels

What You'll Bring

• Strong knowledge of National Grid, British Standards, and UK design rules
• Degree or HND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
• 5+ years' experience in power transmission and substation design
• Skilled in 2D CAD software (Autodesk preferred)
• Able to quickly learn new engineering software
• Experience with NGET stage 4.4 design and earthing up to 400kV
• Knowledge of related areas: overhead lines, civil design, protection & control, HV cables
• Bonus: MSc, chartership, expert in CDEGS, AutoCAD, and power system tools
