Client information
Our client is a well-established engineering organisation delivering complex projects within the utilities and infrastructure sector.


Principal Mechanical Engineer roles and responsibilities
Lead the design, specification, and delivery of mechanical engineering solutions across projects and proposals.
Manage and supervise Mechanical Engineers, ensuring high-quality output and adherence to project timelines.
Produce and review technical documentation including specifications, calculations, drawings, and reports.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, suppliers, and clients to ensure efficient project delivery.
Oversee procurement activities including requisitions, technical evaluations, and supplier engagement.
Drive the development and implementation of company-wide engineering standards, procedures, and quality assurance processes.
Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and support to engineering teams, including training and development.
Participate in site visits, testing, commissioning, and client meetings as required.


Principal Mechanical Engineer requirements
Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
Extensive experience within the water/wastewater sector or a similar engineering environment.
Strong technical knowledge with the ability to lead design and engineering activities.
Experience managing teams and delivering projects within strict deadlines.
Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. IMechE) and/or working towards Chartered status is desirable.
Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office and familiarity with engineering systems.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
