The Opportunity
As a Graduate Structural Engineer, you'll play an important role supporting the design and delivery of a diverse range of engineering projects. Working alongside experienced engineers, you'll gain hands-on experience while developing your technical expertise and professional confidence.
You'll collaborate with colleagues, clients, and consultants while contributing to innovative engineering solutions across multiple projects.
What You'll Be Doing
- Supporting senior engineers in delivering design work across multiple projects
- Producing structural design calculations and assisting with technical analysis
- Preparing sketch plans, drawings, specifications, and reports
- Assisting with feasibility studies and providing design advice
- Supporting the planning of site investigations
- Undertaking site inspections and attending site meetings
- Coordinating design work in line with project briefs and programme constraints
- Liaising with clients, consultants, and internal teams to support project delivery
- Working within BIM processes and ISO 19650 standards
- Assisting with the development and coordination of project information models
- Ensuring designs comply with quality procedures and industry best practice
- Taking a proactive approach to personal development and improving technical knowledge
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Strong understanding of engineering principles
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Proactive approach to work and willingness to learn
- Ability to produce hand calculations and structural sketches
- Understanding of construction methods and procedures
- Commitment to continuous improvement
- Awareness of ISO 19650 processes
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, as the role involves travelling to project sites
Desirable
- Knowledge of structural design software
- Experience using AutoCAD
Technical Competencies
- Familiarity with British Standards and Eurocodes
- Exposure to structural design in concrete, steel, timber, and masonry
- Understanding of CDM regulations and the responsibilities of a designer
- Ability to interpret and apply engineering concepts effectively
