About the role
Search Consultancy is delighted to represent a leading specialist Fit-out and Refurbishment contractor in their search for an experienced Estimator to join their Newcastle-based team. This is a pivotal role within an expanding firm, offering the rare opportunity to help shape the estimating department from the ground up. Our client values modern working practices, offering a high-trust environment with a generous 3-day remote working split.
Role Responsibilities
Tender Management: Lead the preparation and submission of formal tenders and cost estimates for high-end interior fit-out and refurbishment projects.
Cost Analysis: Conduct detailed breakdowns of material, labour, and equipment costs, specifically focusing on bespoke joinery, partitions, and interior finishes.
Subcontractor Liaison: Source and negotiate with specialist subcontractors and suppliers to obtain the most competitive and reliable market rates.
Site Visits & Surveys: Attend site visits where necessary to understand project constraints, structural requirements, and specific site logistics.
Risk Management: Identify potential commercial risks in project specifications and provide mitigation strategies during the bid process to ensure project profitability.
Software Utilisation: Use industry-standard estimating software to produce accurate, professional, and transparent bid documents for clients.
Candidate Requirements
Experience: Proven experience as an Estimator, specifically within the fit-out, interiors, or building refurbishment sectors.
Market Knowledge: Strong local market knowledge of subcontractors and trade suppliers in the North East.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel, with a keen eye for architectural detail.
Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex cost data and build relationships with stakeholders and clients.
Soft Skills: A self-motivated attitude suitable for a hybrid/remote working environment.
