Company Overview:

We are seeking a diligent and experienced Site Manager to oversee a flat roofing project within a student accommodation development in Bristol. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the timely delivery of the project while maintaining the highest standards of health and safety and quality.

Job Duties:

• Manage and supervise all on-site activities related to the flat roofing installation on a high rise residential building.
• Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, acting as a proactive enforcer to maintain a safe working environment.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project progression.
• Maintain accurate site records including daily reports, risk assessments, and method statements.
• Monitor project timelines and resource allocation to achieve deadlines and budget requirements.
• Conduct regular site inspections to assess quality standards and address any defects or issues promptly.
• Communicate effectively with the client, project managers, and other relevant parties to provide updates and resolve concerns.
• Lead toolbox talks and provide clear briefings to site operatives on tasks and safety procedures.
• Ensure all plant, equipment, and materials are used safely and appropriately on site.

Required Qualifications:

• Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certificate.
• Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card.
• Valid First Aid qualification.
• Full, clean UK driving licence.

Experience:

• Proven experience managing flat roofing projects, particularly within student accommodation or similar high rise residential developments.
• Demonstrable track record of working hands-on in a supervisory capacity on construction sites.
• Experience in enforcing health and safety standards and ensuring compliance on site.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Strong knowledge of flat roofing techniques, materials, and installation processes.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills to manage diverse teams and stakeholders effectively.
• Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage time efficiently.
• Competent in maintaining site documentation and reporting.
• Ability to identify risks and implement appropriate control measures.
• Proficient in interpreting construction drawings and specifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Additional health and safety certifications or training beyond SMSTS and First Aid.
• Experience with other roofing types or mixed-use residential projects.
• Familiarity with environmental and sustainability considerations in construction projects.

Working Conditions:

• Work primarily on-site at a high rise construction location in Bristol.
• Full-time hours with potential for occasional extended hours to meet project deadlines.
• Exposure to varying weather conditions and physical demands of a construction environment.
• Use of personal protective equipment is mandatory at all times on site.
• Regular travel to and from the site; parking is fully provided.
