Head of Design

MCS Group are working with a leading specialist fit-out and bespoke manufacturing contractor to recruit a Head of Design to lead and develop their design function.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly respected organisation delivering complex, high-end projects across multiple sectors. The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in managing the full design lifecycle while developing and mentoring a high-performing design team.

The Role

As Head of Design, you will lead the design function, ensuring the successful delivery of detailed production drawings and coordinating the design process across multiple projects.

You will;

• Lead and manage the design team to ensure production drawings meet project specifications, technical standards and contractual requirements
• Develop and manage design programmes aligned with project milestones across multiple projects
• Coordinate the full design process from concept through client approval to production-ready documentation
• Manage design resources while mentoring and developing team members to maximise performance
• Chair design coordination meetings and ensure effective communication between design, production, project teams and clients

The Ideal Candidate;

• Strong experience managing people within a design team in a similar environment
• Degree qualified in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Interior Architecture or a related built-environment discipline
• Strong leadership and team management skills with a collaborative and proactive approach
• Solid understanding of the design process and its interface with manufacturing and production
• Experience working with 3D design tools and BIM, with the ability to drive design improvements and efficiencies
