In this role, you'll carry out detailed property inspections across occupied homes, diagnosing defects such as damp, mould, and structural issues, while managing repair and maintenance projects through to completion. You'll work closely with contractors, residents, and internal teams, taking full ownership of projects - from initial inspection and specification through to delivery and final sign-off.

The ideal candidate will come from a housing association, local authority, or similar environment, with strong experience in repairs and maintenance surveying. You'll be confident managing projects, working with stakeholders, and producing detailed technical reports.

The Role:

• Carry out detailed internal and external inspections across housing stock
• Diagnose complex defects including damp, mould, and structural issues
• Produce specifications, reports, and costed work schedules
• Manage repair and maintenance projects through to completion
• Oversee contractor performance, quality, and compliance
• Handle resident queries, complaints, and escalated cases
• Manage budgets and variations across projects
• Support insurance-related works including fire and flood damage
• Ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations

The Person:

• Experience as a Building Surveyor within housing, local authority, or similar
• Strong understanding of building construction, defects, and maintenance
• Experience producing detailed technical reports and specifications
• Confident managing contractors, budgets, and multiple projects
• Good knowledge of housing and contract law
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Knowledge of NHF Schedule of Rates (SORs) desirable
• HNC/HND or equivalent (or strong experience with CPD commitment)
