Job Description

We are currently working with a specialist infrastructure contractor who are looking to appoint a Design CAD Engineer to join their established design team in Wakefield.

The business delivers a wide range of water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the UK, working closely with major water utility providers. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a CAD professional with a civil engineering background to work on technically interesting infrastructure schemes.

The successful candidate will support the design engineering team in producing high-quality technical drawings and design solutions across a variety of water infrastructure projects.

The Role

As Design CAD Engineer, you will support the design team with the development of detailed drawings and technical design information across water and wastewater projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Producing detailed 2D and 3D design drawings for civil engineering projects

  • Supporting the design team with CAD activities related to survey data and design development

  • Assisting with the development of practical engineering design solutions

  • Maintaining drawing accuracy and design consistency across projects

  • Supporting technical queries and design coordination

  • Reviewing survey information and supporting Pre-Construction Information development

  • Working collaboratively with engineers and external stakeholders

  • Supporting junior team members where required

Requirements

Education / Qualifications

  • Qualification in Civil Engineering, CAD Engineering, or related discipline

Skills / Experience

  • Strong experience using 2D CAD software such as AutoCAD

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Understanding of civil engineering drawings and design principles

  • Knowledge of water industry standards and drainage design guidance

  • Familiarity with ISO management standards and information management processes

Desirable Experience

  • Experience using 3D design software such as Civil 3D, Revit or BIM platforms

  • Experience working within Common Data Environments (CDE) such as BIM 360

  • Understanding of WIMES standards

  • Knowledge of CDM Regulations

  • Awareness of HazOp or ALM processes

  • Full UK driving licence
