Job Title: Health & Safety Officer (Adhoc)

Location: Edinburgh, Fife & East Lothian
Engagement Type: Adhoc / Freelance / Self-Employed
Start Date: Immediate / As Available

Overview
I am currently seeking an experienced Health & Safety Officer to support a range of construction projects on an adhoc basis with the potential for long-term ongoing work. The role will involve working alongside a subcontractor who is actively engaged on multiple sites with Tier 1 main contractors across Edinburgh, Fife, and East Lothian.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive H&S professional looking for flexible work while being involved in a consistent pipeline of projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carrying out site health & safety inspections and audits

  • Ensuring compliance with company policies and relevant HSE legislation

  • Supporting site teams with risk assessments and method statements (RAMS)

  • Promoting safe working practices and a positive safety culture

  • Conducting toolbox talks and safety briefings where required

  • Reporting findings and recommending improvements to site management

  • Liaising with principal contractors and project teams to ensure standards are maintained

Requirements

  • Proven experience working as a Health & Safety Officer within the construction industry

  • Relevant H&S qualifications (e.g. NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate or equivalent)

  • Valid CSCS card (or equivalent construction safety certification)

  • Strong understanding of UK health & safety legislation

  • Experience working with or alongside Tier 1 contractors is desirable

  • Excellent communication and reporting skills

  • Ability to travel across sites in Edinburgh, Fife and East Lothian
