Overview
I am currently seeking an experienced Health & Safety Officer to support a range of construction projects on an adhoc basis with the potential for long-term ongoing work. The role will involve working alongside a subcontractor who is actively engaged on multiple sites with Tier 1 main contractors across Edinburgh, Fife, and East Lothian.
This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive H&S professional looking for flexible work while being involved in a consistent pipeline of projects.
Key Responsibilities
Carrying out site health & safety inspections and audits
Ensuring compliance with company policies and relevant HSE legislation
Supporting site teams with risk assessments and method statements (RAMS)
Promoting safe working practices and a positive safety culture
Conducting toolbox talks and safety briefings where required
Reporting findings and recommending improvements to site management
Liaising with principal contractors and project teams to ensure standards are maintained
Requirements
Proven experience working as a Health & Safety Officer within the construction industry
Relevant H&S qualifications (e.g. NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate or equivalent)
Valid CSCS card (or equivalent construction safety certification)
Strong understanding of UK health & safety legislation
Experience working with or alongside Tier 1 contractors is desirable
Excellent communication and reporting skills
Ability to travel across sites in Edinburgh, Fife and East Lothian
