Job Description

Approach Personnel are partnered with a growing and forward-thinking Mechanical & Electrical contracting company, delivering high-quality Planned Preventative Maintenance, Install & Reactive Repairs across the North East.

We are now seeking an experienced Commercial Heating Engineer to their expanding team.

The Role:

As a Commercial Heating Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering PPM and reactive maintenance & repair services across a portfolio of commercial properties throughout the North East. You will ensure all heating systems and associated plant are maintained to the highest standards of safety, compliance, and efficiency.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Planned Preventative Maintenance

  • Carry out scheduled PPM on commercial heating systems and plant equipment
  • Service and maintain boilers, burners, pumps, pressurisation units, expansion vessels, and associated controls
  • Complete detailed service reports and certification documentation
  • Ensure compliance with current gas safety and industry regulations

Reactive & Breakdown Repairs

  • Diagnose faults on commercial gas and heating systems
  • Carry out effective and efficient repairs
  • Respond to emergency call-outs as required
  • Minimise downtime for clients through proactive fault resolution

Facilities MaintenanceSupport

  • Support wider FM tasks when required
  • Work alongside other engineers and subcontractors
  • Maintain strong client relationships on site
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with health & safety regulations

Compliance & Documentation

  • Complete digital job reports accurately and promptly
  • Ensure adherence to Gas Safe regulations
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation
  • Participate in audits and compliance checks where required

Requirements:

  • ACS Commercial Gas qualifications (essential)
  • Experience working on commercial heating systems
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Clear Enhanced DBS checks
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

Desirable:

  • Experience within Facilities Management
  • LPG or Oil qualifications (advantageous)
