What you’ll be doing
Working across 3 quarries you’ll be supporting the Site Manager with the safe and efficient operation of the quarry. You’ll be managing a team of 9 contractors and supervising and co-ordinating the day to day and forward planning of the mining and processing operations.
Activity includes:
* organise labour and materials required to meet the production plan
* shift scheduling and daily work instructions to the quarry teams
* ensuring the quarry teams are operating safely and within quarry regulations
* train and coach production line employees
* daily environment testing and interaction with the geology, production and quality teams
* coordinate production start-ups, shutdowns, and changeovers
* challenge bottlenecks and report issues to maintenance
* management of ad hoc projects e.g. environmental work or overburden removal
* producing shift reports and the daily collection of production reports
Skills and experience we are looking for
Your experience of working in and your knowledge of the Quarry industry is essential for this role. In addition, we are looking for:

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate the Quarry processing plant, maximising production capacity and focusing on customer requirements
- Carry out plant prestart and shutdown checks as required
- Carry out routine maintenance tasks (guarding inspections, check for unusual noises and vibrations etc)
- Check the screen decks (holes; inspect conveyor belts, scrapers and skirts etc)
- Be flexible if any maintenance is needed and customers require additional tonnage.
- Have regular communication with site supervisor to relay any problems or ideas that could help production.
- Operate the Mobile plant in a safe, energy efficient and controlled manor whilst keeping the Quarry fixed plant supplied with material and loading vehicles for dry aggregate deliveries (front loader)
- Fuel the mobile plant up daily and ensure accurate records are maintained.
- Report defects to line manager.
- Carry out routine maintenance tasks on the mobile plant assist the service engineer.
- Ensure raw material and finished stocks are managed safely and comply with the quarry managers rules.

- Maintain high levels of housekeeping.

About The Role

EKFB are recruiting for an Earthworks Engineer, responsible for assisting the Excavated Materials Manager in ensuring collation and reporting of earthworks volumes and Materials Management Plans. My client is an established Civil Engineering Company.
They have been awarded a £12m package of works on a Major Highways project in Hampshire and require an experienced General Foreman or Works Manager to oversee the delivery of the works which comprises earthworks, drainage and kerbing etc.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Organizing daily activities, work shifts, etc. Capacity of coordination between the different activities performed by the employees and subcontractor
Ensuring work is carried out to the highest of quality standards.
Coordinate with the Project / Contracts Manager, Site team and Sub contractors
Ordering and control of materials on site
Complete all necessary documentation and paperwork as required daily and properly including but not limited to: Time sheets, Pre-Task Planning Sheets, daily journal/diary, weekly safety report, receiving reports, change/time off, work order, etc.
Monitor the progress of your work against the planned production goals.
