Managing Estimator
360 Recruitment has been retained by a leading multi-disciplined contractor to identify and appoint a Managing Estimator.
The successful candidate will be appointed as Managing Estimator for their Civils, Earthworks and Remediation division.
Job role: Managing Estimator
Location: Flexible (offices nationwide)
Salary: £85,000 - £90,000/annum + package (car, healthcare, pension, discretionary bonus, etc)
Responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation of estimates and tenders for earthworks, civil engineering, and remediation schemes
- Build and review cost estimates from first principles, including labour, plant, materials, and temporary works
- Manage and coordinate estimating resources and inputs where applicable
- Review drawings, specifications, and ground investigation information to identify risks and opportunities
- Engage with clients, consultants, and stakeholders during pre-tender and tender stages
- Manage supply chain enquiries and subcontractor pricing
- Prepare tender submissions, clarifications, and value engineering proposals
- Support bid strategy, methodology development, and programme input
- Maintain and develop cost data, benchmarks, and estimating tools
- Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating and preconstruction processes
Requirements:
- Experience in a senior or lead estimating role, with the ability to manage tenders and coordinate others
- Strong ability to produce and review estimates from first principles
- Commercially astute with a clear understanding of project risk and opportunity
- Confident in a client-facing environment and able to build relationships
- Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills
- Proficient in estimating software and Excel
