Our client, a leading firm in the water sector, is currently seeking a Senior Estimator to join their team in Sheffield on a permanent basis.
Job Purpose:
The Senior Estimator will be responsible for the preparation and submission of tenders under various procurement forms. Working as part of a team, this role is crucial to securing profitable future workloads. Utilise your construction knowledge and commercial experience in conjunction with the bid team to ensure competitive bids, manage risks, and prepare budgets and cost plans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Appraise tender documents
- Prepare material and sub-contract enquiries, selecting prospective subcontractors
- Attend strategy and opportunity meetings with the project team
- Conduct site visits to identify site-specific risks
- Contribute to design development and attend design team meetings
- Prepare tender Bills of Quantities
- Prepare analytical cost estimates including preliminaries
- Adjudicate and compare sub-contractor quotations
- Initiate technical queries and ensure design is sufficiently developed for accurate costing
- Manage risks throughout the tender period and prepare the tender Risk Register
- Carry out value engineering throughout the design phase of design and build projects
- Present the tender to senior management at settlement meetings
- Complete tender documentation and submit the tender
- Ensure a smooth handover of the project to the site team
Job Requirements:
- Proven Estimating experience
- Appropriate construction-related HND/Degree or similar
- Familiarity with all forms of contract
- Experience using Conquest estimating software
- Strong technical construction knowledge
- Knowledge of Building Regulations and other industry standards
- Awareness of BIM and cost planning
- Experience in viewing and interrogating 3D design models (desirable)
