Job Description
We are recruiting on behalf of a leading PLC residential developer who is looking to appoint an experienced Freelance Quantity Surveyor to support a new build residential project in Headington, Oxfordshire on an initial 3-month contract basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for a proven QS to join a well-structured commercial team and hit the ground running on a live scheme.
The Role
As Freelance Quantity Surveyor, you ll be responsible for day-to-day commercial management across the project, supporting delivery from a cost and contract perspective. Typical duties will include:
- Managing subcontractor procurement, valuations and payments
- Administering contracts and managing variations / change control
- Supporting cost reporting and forecasting
- Assisting with budget management and cost-to-complete updates
- Working closely with the site and project teams to ensure commercial performance
- Handling interim valuations, final accounts and subcontractor negotiations
About You
Our client is looking for a QS who can step in quickly and add value from day one. The ideal candidate will have:
- Extensive experience as a Quantity Surveyor on new build residential schemes
- Strong knowledge of subcontractor packages and cost control on housing developments
- Local / regional experience in Oxfordshire (or surrounding areas), with a strong understanding of the residential market in the area
- Confident communication skills and the ability to work autonomously
- A professional, solutions-focused approach and strong commercial awareness

- Location: Headington, Oxfordshire
- Duration: 3 months (initial)
- Status: Inside IR35
- Start: ASAP / short notice considered
