Quantity Surveyor

London

£55,000 - £65,000 per annum plus excellent package

Permanent UK (Project-based)

We re working with a well-established and respected construction contractor to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of live projects.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys owning the numbers, managing risk, and working closely with project teams to ensure commercial success from start to finish.

The Role

As Quantity Surveyor, you ll take responsibility for managing project costs, contractual obligations and commercial controls to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and profitably.

Your role will span budgeting, forecasting, valuations and final accounts, alongside proactive change management and support with value engineering initiatives. You ll work closely with site, design and supply chain partners to maintain strong commercial governance throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparation and ongoing management of project budgets and cost forecasts

  • Cost control, CVR production and reporting on financial performance

  • Procurement of subcontractors and suppliers, including preparation of order documentation

  • Assessment, certification and administration of subcontractor payments

  • Preparation of interim valuations and final account submissions

  • Management and valuation of variations and change control processes

  • Supporting the preparation of Extension of Time and Loss & Expense submissions where required

  • Maintaining accurate, auditable commercial records and documentation

  • Ensuring compliance with contractual requirements, particularly JCT and NEC

  • Supporting dispute avoidance and, where necessary, resolution processes

  • Producing monthly commercial reports, including cashflow where applicable

  • Contributing to company standards around governance, quality, health & safety and risk

What We re Looking For Qualifications
  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) essential

Experience
  • Proven experience within the construction industry

  • Strong commercial awareness

  • Good working knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts

Skills
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills

  • Highly organised with the ability to manage deadlines effectively

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, project-driven environment

  • Strong numerical, analytical and IT skills

  • Able to work independently and use initiative

Desirable
  • Experience working on similar project types or within a comparable sector

  • Experience using cost management systems

  • Familiarity with document and contract management platforms

  • Exposure to value engineering and cost optimisation initiatives
