The Role and about the client:

ITS Building People are recruiting for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor on behalf of a well-established and highly regarded groundworks contractor based in Horley, Surrey. Known for delivering top quality groundworks solutions to residential and commercial projects throughout Surrey and Sussex, this company has developed a strong reputation for quality, attention to detail and collaborative package delivery. They are seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor with a minimum of 18 months experience to work with their existing surveying team across multiple projects. This is an exciting opportunity to join a close-knit team in a company that is looking to go to the next level over the coming year.

Key Responsibilities include, but aren't limited to;

• Assisting Surveyors with commercial aspects of mid-large groundworks packages, from pre-construction to finishings.
• Shadowing senior Surveyors, learning different practices and methods of working.
• Processing submissions of cost variation for clients.
• Working with project teams to ensure commercial and financial success.
• Attending monthly commercial branch and client meetings.
• Overseeing valuations, payments and final accounts.

The ideal candidate will have:

• A minimum of 18 months experience in an Assistant Quantity Surveyor role.
• Strong working knowledge of groundworks projects.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and cost management skills.
• A professional, collaborative approach to work.
• Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline.
