We are working with a reputable building contractor who are currently seeking a reliable and skilled Multi-Trade Operative to join our team. The role involves carrying out a variety of building, maintenance, and refurbishment tasks across residential and public sector commercial projects. Projects locations will generally be Kent,Surrey and South London This position is ideal for someone with a broad range of trade skills that would ideally include plumbing. Key Responsibilities Carry out general building and maintenance tasks including (but not limited to): Carpentry (1st and 2nd fix) Basic plumbing Basic electrical work (e.g., replacing fittings) Plastering, patch repairs, and rendering Painting and decorating Tiling and flooring Assist with small refurbishment projects from strip-out to completion. The Operative will be responsible for fixing defects and small maintenance jobs on projects across the London area. The work stream includes residential and commercial projects for; local authorities, private clients, educational bodies and heritage organisations to name just a few.
The Maintenance Operative will be working with the Maintenance Manager fixing minor defects and small works on completed and ongoing projects across London. This will cover all manner of jobs and would suit a general 'handyman' type person.
It is envisaged that the successful candidate will have prior experience in a similar role, will be based local to Barking and hold a full driving licence. Candidates also need a valid CSCS card for the position, but this can be discussed if needed.

* Calculating, procuring and ordering of materials in line with site budgets
* Basic landscaping.
* Basic plumbing / drainage.
* Basic carpentry, sanding, filling, joining and decoration.
* Basic building & driveway repairs (e.g., brickwork and potholes).
* Painting and Decorating as required.
* Utility Meter Reads.
* Carrying out fire alarm tests and associated statutory inspections.
* Undertake vacant unit inspections for insurance purposes.
* Changing doors and locks.
* General cleaning duties as required.
* Ensure that all Health & Safety procedures are adhered to.
* Ensure accuracy of maintenance documentation, including schedules of works.
* Able to review, interpret and understand works of a statutory nature identified form site risk assessments.
