The Role
An excellent opportunity for an Assistant Design Engineer to develop their career within highways design and maintenance. This role supports the development of highway maintenance and improvement schemes and provides exposure to inspections, surveys, asset management and design delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the development of highway maintenance schemes from defect identification to construction documentation
Support the design of highway improvement, traffic engineering and active travel schemes
Assist in producing forward programmes of maintenance works
Support highway condition inspections and asset surveys
Update and utilise asset management systems
Produce technical reports and design outputs
Undertake site visits, surveys and investigations
Ensure compliance with quality, safety and environmental standards
Support and assist with the supervision of technicians
Work collaboratively with clients and internal teams
Skills & Experience
Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification
Alternatively, HNC/HND or Foundation Degree with relevant experience
Minimum 5 years experience in the highways sector preferred
Experience in highway maintenance techniques and pavement treatments
Experience undertaking asset condition surveys
Good understanding of Health & Safety and Environmental requirements
Knowledge of highways standards including DMRB
Competent IT skills including Microsoft Office
AutoCAD and Civil 3D experience desirable
Full UK/EEC driving licence
