About the Role We are seeking an experienced
Roofer (Craft) to join its Facilities Management and Building Services team. The role is based at Meadowfield Depot and involves carrying out roofing repairs, maintenance, and associated building works across council properties within County Durham.
You will deliver a
high-quality, value-for-money service, ensuring excellent customer satisfaction while working safely and efficiently either independently or as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities - Carry out roofing repairs, maintenance, and associated building works to specification
- Work safely in accordance with training, instructions, and health & safety requirements
- Identify and report potential safety hazards to the Roofing Manager
- Maintain PPE to prescribed standards and follow safe systems of work at all times
- Complete timesheets and relevant documentation accurately and on time
- Support service quality, customer satisfaction, and council standards
- Undertake additional duties within the scope of the role as directed by the Contracts Foreman
Health, Safety & Professional Practice - Comply fully with Durham County Council health & safety policies
- Maintain confidentiality and data security at all times
- Contribute to quality assurance, communication, and service improvement
- Work in line with equality, diversity, and confidentiality policies
Essential Requirements - NVQ Level 2 in Roof Covering or equivalent
- Completed trade apprenticeship
- Relevant roofing experience, ideally within commercial properties
- Experience in repairs and maintenance environments
- Ability to work at height and use appropriate access equipment
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Enhanced DBS experience / ability to obtain Enhanced DBS clearance
- Full, valid UK driving licence (subject to council driver induction assessment)
Desirable - CSCS card
- Resitrix product experience
