Overview
We are seeking an experienced Construction Carpenter to undertake heavy first-fix carpentry work on a new build residential development. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural carpentry, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work safely and efficiently within a fast-paced construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out first-fix carpentry including:
Structural studwork and partition walls
Joists, trussed roofs, and structural timber installation
Staircase fitting, framing, and associated structural components
Window and door frame installation
Sub-flooring, decking, and sheathing
Interpret technical drawings, plans, and specifications accurately.
Work alongside site management and other trades to ensure smooth workflow and timely project progression.
Use power tools and carpentry equipment safely and competently in line with site protocols.
Maintain high standards of workmanship while meeting project deadlines.
Adhere to all health & safety regulations and promote a safe working environment.
Assist in resolving on-site technical or structural challenges as needed.
Requirements
Proven experience as a First-Fix Carpenter on residential new build projects.
Strong understanding of structural timber work and construction sequencing.
Competence in using a wide range of carpentry tools and equipment.
Ability to read and follow architectural and engineering drawings.
Own tools and PPE.
Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Carpentry & Joinery (or equivalent).
Experience working on high end housing developments (preffered).
