If you are on the path to Chartership and want to lead, mentor, and innovate, this role is for a you.

  • Lead Project Delivery: You will take full ownership of the mechanical design process across all RIBA stages (1-5), acting as the primary discipline lead on multiple concurrent projects.

  • Technical Excellence: Produce and sign-off on detailed calculations, specifications, and reports for all core mechanical systems, including HVAC, LTHW/CHW, domestic water, and compressed air systems.

  • Drive Sustainable Innovation: Champion energy-efficient design, ensuring solutions are cost-effective and meet the highest sustainability goals (Part L, BREEAM, and Net Zero Carbon).

  • Team Leadership & Mentorship: You will be a cornerstone of our team, managing the workload of graduate and intermediate engineers, reviewing their designs, and actively mentoring their technical and professional development.

  • Multidisciplinary Coordination: Act as the key mechanical contact, coordinating designs flawlessly in a BIM environment with electrical, public health, structural, and architectural teams.

  • Client Engagement: Confidently attend and lead design team meetings, progress reviews, and client presentations, articulating and justifying your design decisions.

What You'll Bring to the Table

Essential Experience & Qualifications:

  • Proven Experience: A 5-8+ year track record in a mechanical building services design role.

  • Project Portfolio: Demonstrable experience delivering medium to large-scale projects (e.g., MEP values of £5m-£100m+).

  • Sector Versatility: A strong background in several of our key sectors: commercial offices, residential, healthcare, pharmaceutical, data centres, or education.

  • Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of CIBSE guidelines, UK Building Regulations (especially Part L), BSRIA standards, and sustainability benchmarks.

  • Qualifications: A Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.

  • Chartership: You must either be Chartered (CEng) or actively working on a structured path to achieving it with CIBSE or IMechE.

  • Software Proficiency: High-level skills in core design software, including Revit MEP, AutoCAD, and IES VE / Hevacomp.

Bonus Points (Highly Desirable):

  • Formal membership with CIBSE or IMechE.

  • Specific experience in designing Net Zero Carbon buildings, Passivhaus, or advanced renewable technologies (ASHPs, GSHPs, Heat Networks).

Why This Opportunity?

  • A "True Lead" Role: This is a position with genuine autonomy to lead projects and make key technical decisions.

  • Exceptional Project Variety: You will not be siloed. Gain invaluable experience across challenging sectors, including high-spec critical systems and healthcare.

  • Career & Chartership Support: We provide a clear and funded path to Chartership and continuous professional development to help you reach Principal level.

  • Build a Team: This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about mentoring and wants to play a key part in developing the next generation of engineers.

  • Influence & Innovate: You'll be a key voice in our design strategy, contributing to innovation and best practice in a collaborative team.
