Job Description

Timber Frame Designer
Oxfordshire
28,000 - 35,000 (depending on experience)
Full time, Permanent

Are you a recent graduate or early-career designer ready to kickstart your journey in sustainable construction?

Would you like to join a forward-thinking business that's shaping the future of low-carbon living through innovative timber frame design and offsite manufacturing?

We're partnering with an established developer and manufacturer of climate-positive homes, who are investing heavily in their bespoke timber frame facilities in Oxfordshire. As part of their continued growth, they're seeking a Timber Frame Designer to join their expanding technical team.

About the Role

As a Timber Frame Designer, you'll work closely with senior designers and the wider technical and manufacturing teams to produce detailed design drawings and 3D models of timber frame superstructures. You'll be supported by experienced professionals with over 20 years' industry expertise and benefit from hands-on mentoring and technical training.

Your role will include:

  • Preparing full design drawings using CAD/BIM software to generate 3D models and detailing of timber frame structures.
  • Producing accurate cutting lists, schedules, and design packs for manufacture and site construction.
  • Ensuring all work complies with industry standards, building regulations, and company design protocols.
  • Liaising with design, technical, and site teams to resolve queries and ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Supporting the development of efficient and buildable designs that reflect the company's sustainability goals.

What We're Looking For

  • HNC or Degree in Engineering, Architectural Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience using AutoCAD.
  • Experience using design software such as hsbCAD, Wood Engine, Consultec/Framing, Horizon, or Revit.
  • An understanding of timber frame or offsite construction principles.
  • Awareness of current Building Regulations.

This is an excellent opportunity to launch your career in timber frame design, with full training and ongoing mentoring from an experienced design team.
