Mechanical Design Engineer Building Services (MEP)
Salary: £40,000 £65,000 per annum depending on experience
Location: Hybrid / Office-based in Telford, Shropshire
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

A well-established design and build contractor specialising in MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) projects is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their expanding team. With projects ranging from £1 million to £10 million across the UK, this family-owned business is known for delivering high-quality solutions across commercial, healthcare, education, and infrastructure sectors.

Role Overview:
This is an opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong mechanical bias and a background in building services design. The successful candidate will contribute to the full design lifecycle, working collaboratively across disciplines to deliver technically sound and compliant solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design mechanical building services systems including HVAC and plumbing
  • Produce technical drawings and schematics using AutoCAD, Revit, and IES
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure design integrity
  • Manage quality assurance and contribute to programme planning
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and health & safety requirements

Candidate Requirements:

  • HNC in Building Services or equivalent
  • Proven experience in mechanical building services design within the construction industry
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and IES software
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and building processes
  • Effective communication and time management skills
  • Positive attitude and collaborative mindset
  • Additional electrical knowledge is advantageous
