Job Description

We are partnered with a successful housebuilder to strengthen their Technical department with an Assistant/Civil Engineer who is ready to take the next step in their career, gaining exposure to large-scale residential developments and learning directly from experienced Senior Engineers.

You will work across a variety of live projects, contributing to the design, coordination, and delivery of infrastructure and civil works that bring communities to life. This is an off-market opportunity we are handling exclusively, ideal for engineers with experience in low-rise traditional build housing from either a developer, consultancy, or main contractor background.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the design and delivery of infrastructure, drainage, highways, and external works for residential developments.

  • Assist in reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations to ensure accuracy and compliance.

  • Help prepare and coordinate technical submissions to local authorities and statutory bodies (S38, S278, S104, etc.).

  • Liaise with consultants, contractors, and internal teams to support the delivery of cost-effective and buildable solutions.

  • Contribute to value engineering reviews to improve efficiency and sustainability.

  • Provide day-to-day technical support to site teams and help resolve on-site engineering issues.

  • Assist in monitoring project progress, budgets, and risks from an engineering perspective.

  • Support adoption processes for completed infrastructure and liaise with relevant authorities.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Experience working within a housebuilding, consultancy, or civil engineering environment.

  • Understanding of infrastructure design, groundworks, and adoption processes.

  • Familiarity with relevant design standards, Building Regulations, and planning processes.

  • Basic knowledge of CAD and engineering design software (e.g., Civil 3D or PDS).

  • Strong organisational and communication skills, with a proactive and problem-solving mindset.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively within a team.

  • Desire to develop towards Chartered status (MICE) and take on increasing technical responsibility.
