This is a workshop-based role located just outside of Carlisle, offering a competitive salary of £45,000 - £52,000 per annum, based on a 45-hour workweek.
As a Foreman Fitter, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing a team of fitters while remaining hands-on with the tools. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in the industry who is ready to step into a leadership position.
Responsibilities- Lead and supervise a team of fitters, ensuring high-quality work and adherence to deadlines. - Perform all duties expected of a foreman, including planning, organizing, and delegating tasks. - Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. - Remain hands-on with tools, assisting the team with fitting and maintenance tasks as needed. - Monitor and maintain workshop operations to ensure efficiency and productivity. - Provide training, guidance, and support to team members to foster professional growth. - Communicate effectively with management and other departments to ensure smooth project execution.
Qualifications - Proven experience in the construction and plant industry. - Strong technical skills and hands-on experience with tools and equipment. - Leadership experience or the ability to step into a supervisory role with confidence. - Knowledge of health and safety regulations and risk assessment procedures. - Excellent organizational and communication skills. - A proactive and problem-solving mindset. - Ability to work effectively in a workshop-based environment.
Day-to-Day- Oversee daily operations in the workshop, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently. - Conduct regular risk assessments and implement safety measures. - Collaborate with the team to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues. - Allocate resources and manage workloads to meet project deadlines. - Maintain tools and equipment to ensure they are in optimal working condition. - Provide hands-on support to the team, leading by example. - Report progress and challenges to management, offering solutions where necessary.
