Electrical Service Engineer / Approved Electrician

Location: Wolverhampton
Start Date: ASAP
Employment Type: Direct hire or sub-contractor



Pay & Benefits

On behalf of our client, Think Recruitment are seeking an experienced Electrician to join a leading electrical services company operating across secure government sites.

Pay (Negotiable DOE):

  • Electrician Level 3: 16.84/hr

  • Electrician: 17.68/hr

  • Approved Electrician: 19.32/hr

Benefits Include:

  • Overtime pay:

    • 18:00-21:00: 1.5x

    • 21:00-06:00: 2x + following day off

  • On-call rota (1 in 6 weeks): 100/week + minimum 3 hours paid per call

The Opportunity

Think Recruitment are working in partnership with a well-established electrical contractor delivering key services to the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) and Ministry of Defence (MoD) across the Midlands.

We are now recruiting for a Mobile Electrical Service Engineer / Approved Electrician to carry out maintenance, installation, and fault-finding across various secure sites.



Key Responsibilities

  • Electrical servicing, maintenance, and installation

  • Diagnosing and resolving electrical faults

  • Completing small works and remedial projects

  • Participating in an on-call rota (1 in every 6 weeks)

  • Maintaining accurate records and reports

  • Adhering to health and safety procedures at all times

  • Liaising with clients and internal teams to ensure high-quality delivery



Essential Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (minimum NVQ2 considered)

  • Valid CSCS card

  • Full UK driving licence (maximum 3 points)

  • Enhanced DBS check (to be completed before starting)

  • IT literacy (PDA/tablet-based job management)

  • Experience in high-security or customer-focused environments

  • Strong communication, organisation, and planning skills



Desirable (Training Can Be Provided)

  • Familiarity with fire alarm systems (Gent, Notifier, Advanced)

  • Experience with emergency lighting and disabled refuge systems

  • Asbestos Awareness

  • First Aid, IPAF, PASMA

  • Manual Handling, Working at Height, Ladder Safety
