Job Description

Our client is a well-established specialist contractor delivering technically complex projects within the nuclear and infrastructure sectors across the UK. Known for their collaborative approach, quality workmanship, and long-standing client relationships, they continue to grow steadily and are now seeking a Planner to strengthen their project controls and planning capability.

While the company operates within the nuclear / fire sector, this position is open to candidates from other industries-such as construction, civil engineering, energy, or industrial projects-who can demonstrate solid Primavera P6 planning experience.

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and methodical Planner who is confident using Primavera P6 to support the preparation, development, and ongoing maintenance of project programmes. You don't need to be a world-leading P6 expert; what's important is a practical understanding of planning principles and the ability to work collaboratively with project managers and engineers.

Working closely with the project delivery teams, you'll be responsible for producing and maintaining contractual programmes, ensuring progress is accurately reported, and forecasts remain realistic and achievable.

Once the systems are established, you'll manage the update cycle across up to four live projects, typically requiring around one week per month to perform updates and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop the CL31 contractual programme in Primavera P6.

  • Maintain and update the programme to CL32 status, ensuring it reflects current project progress, resourcing, and sequencing.

  • Work with project managers and engineers to capture real-time progress and project change.

  • Identify key risks, opportunities, and potential schedule impacts.

  • Prepare and present planning reports and updates as required by the project team and client.

  • Support project controls, including earned value and forecasting where applicable.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement in planning and reporting processes.

Requirements

  • Experience using Primavera P6 is essential - confident and practical user.

  • A good understanding of project planning, logic linking, critical path analysis, and programme reporting.

  • Experience working in a project delivery or contracting environment (construction, civils, engineering, energy, etc.).

  • NEC contract knowledge is essential
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.

  • Comfortable managing multiple projects with differing timescales and priorities.

Experience in the nuclear sector is not required - training and sector familiarisation will be provided for the right candidate.
