Estates Compliance Surveyor
Street, Somerset
40,000 to 45,000 + 40 hours per week, 8am to 5pm + Holiday + Pension

Excellent opportunity for a proactive and experienced Compliance Surveyor to join a respected and well-established independent school, taking ownership of statutory compliance across a diverse and high-profile estate.

This organisation is a high-performing independent day and boarding school with outstanding facilities, a strong reputation for academic excellence, and a supportive, low-turnover Estates team. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of buildings and facilities, including teaching buildings, boarding houses, sports venues, commercial kitchens, libraries, and swimming pools.

This hands-on role involves carrying out inspections and evaluations across the campus, including fire safety, asbestos management, water hygiene, radon monitoring, and equipment compliance. You will produce accurate reports, maintain up-to-date compliance records, and ensure timely resolution of remedial works. This role offers a rare chance to take real ownership of compliance within a thriving school environment.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, confident in questioning processes where appropriate, and able to work independently while collaborating effectively with the wider Estates team. A relevant HNC/HND/Degree in construction or built environment is desirable, along with IOSH or NEBOSH qualifications. Practical certifications such as P405 Asbestos Management, P901 Legionella, and Fire Safety accreditation are advantageous.

The Role:
Estates Compliance Surveyor
Oversight of estate safety and statutory compliance matters
Inspections, audits, reports, and record keeping across all compliance areas
Fire safety, asbestos, Legionella, radon, and equipment compliance
Liaising with stakeholders to ensure timely remedial actions

The Person:
Relevant HNC/HND/Degree in construction or built environment
IOSH or NEBOSH; P405, P901, Fire Safety accreditation advantageous
Experienced in a similar estates compliance, health and safety, or built environment role
Self-motivated and proactive, able to work independently
Confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
Commercially aware and comfortable reporting to senior leadership
