Caddy Group are seeking an experienced mechanical Pipefitter/ Welder with strong fabrication skills to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of LTHW, CHW and domestic water systems, including plant room layouts, pipework distribution, and on-site installation within commercial and industrial environments. This role is intially on a temporary basis but will go permanent
This is a dual-role position, combining workshop-based fabrication and on-site mechanical installation, including pipework welding, system modification, and plant room fitouts.
Key responsibilities:
Carry out mobile onsite fabrication and occasional workshop-based fabrication and preparation of mid steel, stainless steel, and copper pipework components using MIG, TIG and stick (MMA) welding techniques
Interpret and work from technical mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and schematics
Install mechanical services on site including plant room pipework, valves, brackets, supports and risers.
Carry out pipe fitting and welding on LTHW, CHW and domestic water systems, ensuring alignment with design layout and system performance requirements
Conduct mechanical modifications, remedial works, and repairs on live systems or during planned shutdowns
Operate workshop tools and machinery, including pipe threaders, tube benders, cutting and drilling equipment
Work safely in accordance with industry regulations, site specific RAMS, and health & safety standards
Liaise closely with project managers, site supervisors and MEP trades to ensure smooth project execution
Maintain tools, plant and working environments to high standards of cleanliness and safety
What you ll need:
Proven track record in mechanical pipefitting and welding, particularly within plant room installations
Experience with LTHW, CHW, boosted cold water and hot water services
Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and pipework schematics
Skilled in fabricating and installing steel, stainless steel and copper pipework systems
CSCS card (preferred)
Valik UK driving license
PASMA, IPAF or welding coding certification (desirable but not essential)
Must be able to obtain Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance
