Projects include: Offices, hotels, leisure facilities and student accommodation New build residential development Heritage and restoration projects Schools and hotels Values uptp 20m Key Responsibilities Work across a wide range of sectors and project types, adapting estimating strategies accordingly Prepare tenders, cost plans, budgets, and negotiated bids Manage incoming tender documentation, addendums, and instructions Produce detailed bills of quantities Issue tender enquiries to subcontractors and suppliers Analyse and evaluate tender returns for compliance, scope, accuracy, preliminaries, and commercial terms Support supply chain selection and subcontractor assessments Undertake quantification checks and cost verification exercises Collaborate with operational, planning, management, and design teams during bid preparation Maintain awareness of market conditions, build rates, and cost benchmarking data Keep up to date with current construction methods and materials Provide feedback and cost intelligence to the Quantity Surveying team Key Requirements Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel Experience using estimating software such as Conquest, Conquest On-Screen Take Off, and Onsight Strong written and verbal communication skills Creative and innovative approach to problem-solving Self-motivated and highly organised Team-oriented mindset Full UK driving licence Recruitment on (phone number removed)

Senior Estimator Location: North West London The Opportunity An award-winning Chartered Building Contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Estimator to strengthen its growing Pre-Construction team. This is an opportunity to join a well-established contractor with over 50 years of experience delivering high-quality refurbishment, regeneration and building safety projects across London. You'll play a key role in securing complex schemes spanning cladding remediation, heritage restoration, commercial fit-out, residential refurbishment, education, healthcare and public sector projects. Key Responsibilities Lead the estimating process from initial enquiry through to tender submission. Review drawings, specifications, Employers Requirements and contract documentation. Produce accurate cost plans and detailed estimates for refurbishment and construction projects. Identify value engineering opportunities while maintaining quality and compliance. Work collaboratively with Design Managers, Commercial teams and Operational staff throughout the bid process. Attend client meetings, tender interviews and site visits. Prepare tender adjudication documents and present recommendations to senior management. Support the successful handover of secured projects to delivery teams. Mentor junior estimators and contribute to the continual development of the estimating function. About You Proven experience as a Senior Estimator within a UK main contractor. Strong background pricing refurbishment and construction projects. Experience working on projects including: Cladding remediation and fire safety works Residential refurbishment and regeneration Heritage and conservation Commercial office fit-out Education and healthcare High-rise residential developments Excellent knowledge of traditional, Design & Build and two-stage tendering. Able to interpret complex construction drawings and specifications. Proficient with estimating software and Microsoft Excel. Desirable Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or similar. Knowledge of JCT contracts. Experience pricing projects from 2m to 30m+. Subcontractor Accounts: Manage the commercial aspects of subcontractor accounts, including processing payments and agreeing final accounts. Cash Flow & Reporting: Forecast costs, prepare monthly Cost value reconciliation (CVR) reports, and assist with smooth project handovers Cost Control & Budgeting: Monitoring ongoing project expenditures in real-time, handling cost-value reconciliations (CVR), and executing value engineering to optimize costs. Invoicing & Billing: Generate, verify, and raise project invoices accurately based on completed on-site milestones Variations: Track and price project variations and handle interim payment applications. Essential Qualifications & Experience Heritage Experience: Some experience successfully estimating, surveying, and managing costs within the heritage or conservation sector. Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of traditional building techniques, sympathetic material sourcing, historic structural repairs, and building defects. Surveying Skills: Proven ability to accurately measure and survey existing historic buildings manually and using digital tools. Commercial Acumen: Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Estimating, or Construction Management (desirable).
