The successful candidate will receive support and development to build their estimating and commercial knowledge, with the intention of progressing into a Quantity Surveyor role as their experience and capability develop. The Role The Estimator will support the preparation of accurate and competitive estimates and tenders for water and wastewater projects. Key responsibilities will include: • Preparing estimates and costings for projects and tenders. • Reviewing tender and project documentation to understand scope and requirements. • Obtaining and reviewing supplier and subcontractor quotations. • Assisting with the preparation of tender submissions and commercial proposals. • Working with the technical and project teams to ensure estimates accurately reflect project requirements. • Supporting the review of costs, margins and commercial risks. • Maintaining accurate estimating records and project information. • Assisting with variations, cost reporting and other commercial activities as experience develops. • Developing an understanding of contracts, procurement and project commercial management. About the Candidate The role would suit someone early in their commercial career who is keen to develop within the water, wastewater, engineering, construction or utilities sectors. Candidates may have: • Previous experience in estimating, quantity surveying, commercial administration or a related role. • A relevant degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification would be advantageous. • Good numerical and analytical skills. • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach. • Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel. • Good communication and organisational skills. • The ability to work effectively with technical and project teams. • A genuine interest in developing a long-term career within commercial and quantity surveying.
