About the Role On behalf of our client - a respected main contractor - we are looking for an experienced, highly organized Site Manager to take charge of a 4.5m new-build school and car park facility in Leicestershire. The scheme is secured and currently on site under a JCT Design & Build contract. Main works involve SIPs (Structural Insulated Panels) construction, associated groundworks, car park infrastructure, and full fit-out works. The overall program runs for approximately 45 weeks, with a dedicated Site Manager required on-site around November 2026. While you will be taking point on this specific educational project, our client is actively expanding and seeking a strong manager for a long-term position. About this Role: Ambitious/experienced Design Manager required by the Swindon office of this busy Southern Regional contractor to take the lead and manage the design process for 2 education projects in the Wiltshire area. One of these is a new build SEND school currently in PCSA for design development for a further 30+ weeks, then construction is due to commence on site in the new year. This school will feature a cross laminated timber (CLT) frame, so some prior experience of working with this material would be advantageous. There is also prior experience within the business currently. The other scheme is a new build single storey PE block constructed within the grounds of an existing school. This scheme is also currently in PCSA and due to commence later this year/early next. Reporting to the Senior Design Manager and working closely with the relevant Project Manager, you will manage the design development and input to the buildability aspects of schemes through the rest of the second stage preconstruction phase and throughout the construction phase on site. The role combines historic building conservation, building surveying, maintenance, project management and strategic estate management. You'll ideally have strong technical knowledge and understand how older buildings actually work, including traditional materials, construction techniques and appropriate conservation-led repairs. You'll be comfortable diagnosing defects and finding practical, sensible solutions, as well as managing projects from initial design and specification through procurement and construction to completion. Alongside the heritage side of the role, there is an opportunity to influence how the Estate evolves, including sustainability, energy efficiency, environmental monitoring and future improvement projects. Who are we looking for? You could currently be working as a Building Surveyor, Building Manager, Estates Surveyor, Property Manager or in a similar technical property role.
