Trainee Quantity Surveyor

Our client have a very exciting opportunity for a Trainee Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team based in Whiteley, Fareham. The role will include day release for one day a week to study within the construction management/surveying field. Our client are also happy to support and fund the right candidate's journey in getting their chosen qualification. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting a dedicated and professional pre and post-contract commercial management team in learning all aspects of both the commercial and construction process from beginning to completion. Main responsibilities: Assist with post-contract commercial support for designated packages of work, including subcontracts and materials. Ensure projects are successfully delivered within cost and time constraints Assist with Quantity surveying and purchasing of various work packages as directed. Assist in Providing contractual and commercial support to Project Managers Provide input to internal and external commercial reports as required by the Commercial manager. Work with and collaborate with key Elivia partners, e.g.: finance, project management, engineering, sub-contractors, suppliers, and clients The perfect candidate will have/be: The willingness to be HNC/Degree qualified or equivalent and work towards the professional qualification of your choice The ability to learn new skills Good negotiation Strong communicator with excellent written and oral communications skills Good financial and commercial acumen Ability to work under own initiative with limited supervision and under cost or time-critical conditions Confident and able to deal externally and internally at all levels Ability to operate effectively within a team environment Strong computing skills in MS word, excel, and MS Outlook Our client's compensation package includes a competitive salary, car allowance and holiday allowance.
