Project Manager – Birmingham Our client is a team of planning, design and construction specialists building a number of new tram extensions across the West Midlands. Formed in 2016 to transform the West Midlands by delivering the best integrated transport system for the future. We work hard to be a best practice organisation, delivering stakeholder-focused services as it plans and delivers five Metro extensions across the region for the West Midlands Combined Authority Job Description: The Project Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of the project within the Alliance in support of the Project Director. The role includes the coordination and facilitation of all processes in such a manner that there is minimal impact and disruption on existing operations throughout the project lifecycle. They will have a strong knowledge and background of commercial management of all aspects of the project to ensure that the project is taken into tram operation safely, on time and under budget. They will be responsible for resource planning within the project and ensuring the correct level of resource is available to ensure the project meets key milestones. Main Duties: * Lead the different discipline teams throughout the project maintaining a ‘Best for Alliance’ environment. * Delivery of key elements of the BEE Project in a safe & environmentally responsible manner to time, cost and quality, in accordance with the Alliance Principles. * Agreeing timescales, costs and resources needed to deliver a project * Drawing up a detailed plan for how to achieve each stage of a project * Selecting and leading a project team * Directing a multi-disciplinary Construction and Rail team * Communicating with staff at every level, in a calm, personable way * Overseeing several sections of the projects at the same time * Ensuring that each stage of the project happens on time, on budget and to a high standard * Reporting regularly on progress to the Project Director and stakeholders * Resolving any issues or delays Requirements: * Knowledge of project delivery in a civils environment * Ability to manage project plans, budgets and workforce * Managing several projects sections simultaneously with the support of junior project managers * Experience of managing multi-disciplinary project teams * Experience of delivering within an effective safety culture in a high risk environment * Relevant Degree * Recognised Project Management qualification. * Membership (or working towards membership) of the Association for Project Management or other professional body Salary: £50,000 – 60,000 DOE + £7,500 Car Allowance + Benefits
