Job Description
An established contractor in the construction industry are expanding their geotaphical coverage from central Hampshire and require a Design Manager to join the team.
They have acheived 2022 turnover targets and are now focusing on securing workload and opportunities for 2023/24 with targetted selection and assesment of the type of projects and clients they want to work with. They have a stable senior management structure and strong on-site delivery presence and are determined to develop and build their estimating, pre con and design teams locally.
Projects range typically from £3million to £10 million in value and most recent project awards include a new build community centre, cut and carve refurb on a listed building and several school and hospital extensions. They work with selected clients on a negotiated or 2 stage basis as well as framework opportunties.
The role is to take responsibility for the design element of the schemes from pqq through to delivery on site - start to finish which is a rewarding challenge to see the decisions you makee and your input at bid stage come to life on site.
Your input and analysis of the design elements and use of best practice through the bid and tender stages will help the estimating and planning teams submit the best bid possible, you will work with consultants and external experts as well as dealing with specialist subcontractors.
You will work with the commercial and delivery teams to ensure the construction phase stays on programme and all design related queries are resolved quickly and professionally and accurate recorded through to snags, handover and through teh defects period.
The role will be split between head office and regular visits to site to checka nd inspect the works, deal with enquiries and assist the delivery teams.
