Banksman/Traffic Marshall

Flannery Plant Hire is a blue-chip plant hire company and one of the biggest supplier of operated & self-drive plant in the UK. The Traffic Marshall / Banksman will support all Managers and their teams to maintain a safe working environment in line with the company policy. You will maintain excellent communications with the Yard Manager, their teams and heavy vehicle drivers. Role and Responsibilities Flannery Plant Hire is a blue-chip plant hire company and one of the biggest supplier of operated & self-drive plant in the UK. The Traffic Marshall / Banksman will support all Managers and their teams to maintain a safe working environment in line with the company policy. You will maintain excellent communications with the Yard Manager, their teams and heavy vehicle drivers. * Undertake duties in full accordance with Flannery’s policies and procedures. * Responsible for maintaining security and surveillance at the depot. * Recording deliveries and managing visitor logbook / sign in registers. * Conducting visitor safety / inductions/ briefings and ensuring that correct PPE is worn. * Ensuring that drivers submit RAMS upon request and workers adhere to health and safety regulations. * Ensure compliance in the safe operation of plant, vehicles and equipment in line with company policy, procedures, training and manufacturer’s instructions. * Facilitating the movement of all types of plant and heavy vehicles. * Maintaining communications with yard staff, plant operators and heavy vehicle drivers. * Ensuring the safe movement of plant and vehicles into and out of the yard. * Preserving pedestrian and traffic routes outside of the yard entrance. * Ensuring pedestrian routes within our boundary are kept clear. * Directing road traffic when vehicles enter or exit the depot. * Responding to applicable ad hoc requests. * Recommending and laying out safe, traffic systems around the yard. * Providing clear, correct, and safe directions to plant operators. * Communicating with drivers and plant operators verbally and by radio and/or industry standard hand signals. * Understanding risks (e.g. blind spots) and how to manage these effectively. * Managing traffic to avoid excessive queuing. * Minimising possible risks to personnel and equipment. * Working in busy operational depot. * Reporting accidents, incidents and near misses to the Health and Safety Manager. * Raising any issues or concerns to the Yard Foreman or Health and Safety Manager. * Willing to complete any additional training and courses required by the company. Key Relationships: Internal - Senior Management Team - Transport Team - Commercial & Customer Experience Team - H&S and Fleet Managers - Service, Admin and HR teams External - Customers at all levels - Suppliers - External auditors - Legal Bodies Qualifications and Education Requirements - Valid Marshall / Banksman Ticket. - Valid CSCS card. - Proven work experience as a traffic marshall / Banksman. - Good knowledge of state health and safety regulations. Preferred Skills / Characteristics - Have excellent verbal communication skills and ability to liaise verbally confidently with employees and external parties. - To listen carefully to instructions. - Be vigilant and have excellent visual awareness. - Must have an approachable and professional demeanour. - Be physically fit and able to stand for extended periods. - Ability to communicate using hand signals. - Good attention to detail We welcome all ex-Forces to apply
