Buyer - House Builder

A leading house builder and Construction Company are looking to recruit a Buyer to work from their Shropshire office. The role: As an experienced Buyer you will work in a commercial team responsible for £8 million spend worth of materials. Your day to day responsibilities are as follows: Providing prices for all materials included in plans and drawings; Identifying potential suppliers and new products; Contacting suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations and agree delivery times Dealing effectively with challenges with suppliers and the flow of materials Ensuring compliance with the safety, health and environment requirements of materials and services Providing advice to the project QS's on cost of individual items Liaising closely with the estimator at the tendering stage to ensure that an accurate costs on the project Preparing and maintaining cost reports in order to maximise efficiency within the business Negotiating and agreeing the most favourable terms possible with suppliers once a contract has been secured. The Company: A quality private house builder and construction company in Shropshire. Currently with 9 live sites and 24 in the pipeline. The Person: It is likely you will have previously worked as either a Buyer,Senior Buyer or in a Purchasing role in a similar construction house building environment. However experience in housing is desirable but not essential. The role will require experience with materials procurement and ideally you will have subcontract procurement experience.
