Workshop Assistant
Salary range £22,500 to £25,000
JOB SUMMARY
My client is a busy prop hire company supplying furniture and props to the film and television industry.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a assistant to join us in our busy workshop, repairing and maintaining our vast and varied stock of antique furniture and smalls. Working to a high standard and within strict deadlines.
You would also be required to work in conjunction with our Loss & Damage Co Ordinator to calculate repair costings which would be passed on to our clients.
Key duties & responsibilities
·To repair our furniture and smalls, using a broad range of construction techniques and materials
·Have the ability to work on your own initiative, prioritise and meet deadlines
·Maintain an effective and supporting working relationship with all other departments
Essential Requirements:
·Significant experience in domestic furniture production and/or restoration
·Extensive relevant workshop experience
·Excellent woodworking skills
·Strong organisational skills, proactive and methodical
·Strong communication skills
·Initiative to work alone with minimum supervision
·Ability to work as part of a team
·Positive and flexible approach to problem solving with attention to detail
·Willingness to learn new skills
Desirable Requirements:
·Knowledge of upholstery
·Traditional cabinetry skills
·Interest in furniture restoring
·French polishing
·Previous model making experience
