Our client is heavily focused on the treatment of their customers, which they feel has been a large contributing factor to their growth and success. With this expansion, a fantastic opportunity has come up for a Trainee Machinist to join their team in the West Essex area. The Trainee Machinist will work alongside others to develop the skills and experience to safely operate all the equipment in the timber mill and tool room, along with any associated software to produce a variety of high-quality timber mouldings. Training will include a combination of on and off-site training at the Epping site in Essex, the timber mill in Hastings, Sussex and relevant training with external companies. Monday to Friday - 07:30 - 16:00 £12.74 per hour As a Trainee Machinist you will learn how to safely operate all of the equipment in the timber mill and tool room, along with any associated software to produce a variety of high-quality timber mouldings. In addition, you will learn how to safely operate transporting equipment, including side loaders and combi lifts to move timber around the site for storage. Main Responsibilities; Assist with the operation of all woodworking machinery and handling equipment as directed by the Mill Supervisor including saws, moulder, cross cuts, kindling machine, grip line and baler as required Be a team player who can build effective relationships with colleagues and other departments by delivering a professional prompt and effective service Accurately process and handle timber products in line with the health and safety procedures and company policy Operate all machinery in line with safe systems of work, and use plant to safely transport timber for storage if required and trained Carry out daily maintenance tasks as required reporting any defects to management Ensure all relevant documentation is in place prior to departure in order that goods can be tracked Ensure the secure, correct and timely storage of delivered products Undertake stock take duties as and when required Actively safeguard against the theft of goods or company property by remaining security conscious at all times The preferred candidate will have; Minimum GCSE grade C or above in Maths and English or equivalent (preferred) Basic IT skills Interest in machinery / manufacturing A desire to learn new skills to carry out a key role within the timber manufacturing process Attention to detail and high levels of quality control Company Benefits Competitive salary for Trainee and on completion of training Pension and paid holidays Staff discount Branded PPE / uniform Training and progression opportunities Simon Acres Recruitment are acting as the employment agency in relation to this vacancy.
