Murphy is looking to recruit an experienced Engineering Surveyor based in our offices in Cannock, the Midlands on a permanent basis. The Murphy Surveying Department has expanded in recent years, now comprising of 6 Surveyors reporting to the Engineering Manager.
The surveying team work with all projects across many sectors in which Murphy operates including: rail, water, power, property, construction, tunnelling and Major Projects.
The role is mainly site-based where the candidate is required to work in all weather conditions with experience in setting out, monitoring, surveying and mentoring engineers and surveyors.
The Role
* Liaise with the client to check the setting out information being used is the latest available.
* Close liaison daily with the Site Foreman, Works Managers, Specific Crews and Management for the required work plan
* Setting out of the construction works
* Proving surveys of the completed works
* Proving the existing Site Control or establishing Site Control where required
* Preparation of the setting out detail and uploading / downing to instruments and computers
* Responsibility for processing and drawing of setting out and as-built surveys
* Testing and calibration of the site survey equipment
* Compiling and archiving raw and processed data for audit purposes
* Accurate setting out of the works and dimensional control
* The production of survey information and red - lined drawings for the completion of the As-built records
* Identify and encourage the development of up and coming team members
* Developing a knowledge and understanding of the whole process of construction, setting out and survey administration
Skills & Experience
* Construction Experience
* High skill level in the use of Survey Equipment, including automatic levels, GNSS and Total Station Instruments, and laser scanners
* Clear understanding of the requirements of setting out, (both for general survey and high accuracy work)
* Computer literate in Microsoft Excel and a basic understanding of AutoCAD (or similar)
* Valid CSCS Card
* Full Valid Driving Licence
* Methodical approach to problem solving, good data analysis skills, accuracy and attention to detail
* An academic qualification in Survey or Civil Engineering is desirable
