The Street Works Inspector will carry out systematic and ad hoc site inspections, investigations and surveys of street works, road works and highway licences in relation to the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA), the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the Traffic Management Act 2004 (TMA) and all other associated regulations and codes of practice relevant to highways legislation.. What will this role involve? About you In this role you'll work as part of a small team of dedicated inspectors to ensure that the public highways in Sheffield are maintained in a safe condition for all users, which is our primary concern. The NRSWA Inspector duties will include: Monitor and report on works on the highway by carrying out inspections under NRASWA, for which you will need the correct NRASWA Supervisor accreditation. This will include inspection of live works, reinstatements and ironwork. Ensure that all works promoters comply with the "Specification for the Reinstatement of Openings in Highways". Undertake permit compliance checks, collating information on breaches of H&S and poor workmanship as per the sample unit inspections. Record details of inspections carried out and maintain appropriate records to help ensure the recovery of relevant fees and charges, including NRASWA inspections Gather and produce evidence to support and enforce breaches in highway legislation or health & safety. Operation of NRSWA hosted street works noticing system (Symology desirable), including interrogation/investigation of street works or highway licence notices. To support the NRSWA Manager with a programme of coring, collate, investigate and report findings. Attend site meetings where advice or information is required that relates to temporary traffic management on the highway. Escalate any emergencies found on the network accordingly. Undertake bespoke data and asset analysis and auditing to support contract monitoring and service performance by others or recommendations for service improvements. What are we looking for? Appropriate qualification to relevant trade with extensive knowledge of relevant legislation and Codes of Practice Appropriate legislative and compliance HSEA training Relevant Inspectors courses and qualifications, including defect identification, monitoring and recording Qualifications specifically defined by clients including Professional Membership where deemed appropriate Relevant processes and procedures IT Literate Knowledge of the network Excellent communication skills (verbal/written) and be able to manage stakeholders at all levels Good all round project management knowledge Self-Motivated Able to work alone and prioritise workload Able to work under pressure Personal Highway Safety (PHS) certified CSCS touch screen health and safety (minimum) What makes this role unique?
