Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Busy Mid Tier Builder seeks Quantity Surveyor to join their business. Based in Central Belt.

Your New Company

Our client are a well regarded public sector focused main contractor based in the Central Belt of Scotland. Most of their work is within education, university and public infrastructure and their presence on busy frameworks guarantees a steady and sustainable flow of work to their Scottish business. Due to a continued upsurge in work across the Scottish region they are seeking to add an Assistant or intermediate level Quantity Surveyor to their business.

Your New Role

As Quantity surveyor you will be reporting to a Senior Quantity Surveyor and you will be managing your own projects from day one. With a project scope of between £500K and £5million you could be handling a couple of projects concurrently or one larger project depending on workflow and pipeline. You will be directly managing your project upon contract award. This will involve managing your subcontractor procurement process and appointing successful tenderers and once the project commences managing all commercial activities from assessing payment claims and variations to keeping up to date project cost reports and budgets. This will be a busy and interesting role with a variety of projects so it is a great opportunity for an up and coming quantity surveyor to really hone their trade and develop their commercial expertise.

What you will need to succeed

The ideal candidate will have a degree in quantity surveying and already have a few years experience working for a contractor in the Scottish Construction market. You will have run your own small projects to completion and have a good understanding of the complete project surveying process. You will be self motivated and be keen to develop your career in construction. Initially you will be working in a small office in the central belt but you will be expected to attend site every few works to do site measures and assess project progress.
