Job Description: Senior Mechanical Estimator Location: Coventry Position Type: Full-Time I am seeking a skilled and self-motivated Mechanical Estimator to join a growing team. You will be responsible for producing accurate and competitive estimates for mechanical services projects. You will work closely with the Pre-Construction Manager and the project teams to ensure that estimates align with project requirements, budget constraints, and timelines. Key Responsibilities: Preparation of Estimates: Prepare accurate and detailed estimates for mechanical installations, repairs, and maintenance projects. Review tender documentation and project specifications to develop comprehensive costings. Work with the project management and design teams to gather relevant information to create estimates. Cost Analysis: Analyse historical data, market trends, and material costs to provide competitive yet realistic pricing. Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety. Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks associated with projects and provide advice on mitigating these risks within the estimate. Ensure that all risks are accounted for in the estimate, including unforeseen site conditions, scope changes, and material fluctuations. Liaison with Suppliers and Subcontractors: Engage with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing for materials, equipment, and services. Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers to ensure value for money. Estimation Documentation: Prepare clear and detailed estimate documentation, including breakdowns of costs, quantities, and timeframes. Submit completed estimates within the required timeframes to allow for timely project bidding. Collaboration with Pre-Construction Manager: Report directly to the Pre-Construction Manager, providing updates on the status of estimates and any challenges faced during the estimating process. Assist the Pre-Construction Manager in reviewing bids and proposals, ensuring that all estimates align with company objectives and strategies. Bid Review and Finalisation: Assist in finalising bids by reviewing submitted estimates, ensuring all aspects are accurately reflected in the proposal. Continuous Improvement: Contribute to improving the estimating process and systems, including the development of templates, reports, and tools. Keep up-to-date with industry trends, new technologies, and changes in relevant regulations to enhance the estimating process. Qualifications and Experience: Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator or in a similar role within the construction or mechanical services industry. Strong understanding of mechanical systems, installations, and industry standards. Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel. Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Must have right to work in the UK.

Private Sector Housing Officer Southwest England Contract 30-37 Hours per Week Our local authority client in the South West is seeking an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer / Environmental Health Officer to join their Public Protection team on an interim contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in improving housing standards, protecting vulnerable residents, and ensuring compliance across the private rented sector. Contract Details Contract expected to run from 14th September 2026 to 31st March 2027 30-37 hours per week Hybrid working arrangement Candidates must be able to attend the local area at least 3 days per week The Role As a Private Sector Housing Officer, you will manage a diverse caseload and undertake a range of housing enforcement and regulatory duties, including: Investigating complaints and service requests from private sector tenants Inspecting residential properties and identifying Category 1 and Category 2 hazards Taking informal and formal enforcement action where required Providing advice and guidance to landlords, tenants, and managing agents Conducting HMO inspections and supporting licensing activities Identifying unlicensed licensable HMOs and ensuring compliance with legislation Working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to improve housing conditions across the borough Requirements To be considered, you will ideally possess: A recognised Environmental Health qualification or significant Private Sector Housing enforcement experience Strong knowledge of private sector housing legislation, including the Housing Act 2004 Experience undertaking property inspections and housing enforcement work Knowledge of HMO licensing and management regulations Understanding of the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) Excellent communication, investigation, and decision-making skills Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use Valid DBS check If you have recent Private Sector Housing or Environmental Health experience and are looking for your next interim opportunity within local government, we'd love to hear from you.
