The purpose of the role is to provide effective commercial management and control of projects, and to administer these in line with the applicable contract terms/statutory legislation. The role will be varied and deadline driven, so excellent prioritisation and organisation skills are essential. It is essential that you are a confident communicator, proficient with Microsoft packages, with ideally a minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role/environment. Key Responsibilities: * Commercial management of projects, procurement, account management and payment of subcontractors. * Create systems and processes, allowing effective measurement of commercial performance. * Provide accurate, real time commercial reports (Cost Value Reconciliations) and final forecasts. * Take off and create bills of quantities, and produce tender documentation for subcontract, materials and plant enquires. * Carry out tender analysis, procurement, account management and payment of subcontractors. * Carry out tender analysis, procurement and account management of materials and plant. * Attend and provide cost input at design team meetings and agree strategies to deliver the project. * Value engineer projects and suggest delivery solutions to ensure cost effective project delivery. * Provide financial information to the team as required to assist in financial planning. Skills, Qualifications and Experience * QS degree or equivalent. * Thorough understanding of quantity surveying in the house building industry. * Thorough understanding of financial reporting, contractual terms, conditions and statutory requirements. * Good analytical skills and the ability to apply common sense in all situations. * Ability to prioritise and meet dead lines * Customer and delivery focused * Full driving licence essential. Vacancy description This exciting role will manage the design and construction phases of projects to facilitate the delivery of new Customer Fulfilment Centre and spoke ( satellite) sites ( automated distribution centres), to programme, budget and required levels of quality. The individual will lead and deliver the construction of new sites by interacting with internal colleagues, external consultants and contractors. Roles and Responsibilities Act as a technical expert on all technical and legal project matters through the development and construction process. From acquisition handover, leads an external project team to deliver the Company’s required design requirements for the project. Manage the various contractors to deliver the project to required quality standards, on time and on budget. Manage the change process and ensures budget visibility at all times through the project. Ensures an efficient handover to the operational team, and proactively manages the defects process to completion in agreed timescales. Work with the purchasing team as necessary to ensure best value for required elements of the projects. Communicates clearly with stakeholders on information required to support the project. Reports concisely at the appropriate time to stakeholders on key elements of the project. Is an ambassador for the company in all written and oral communication with external individuals. About you An experienced construction professional with proven experience of developing significant industrial projects from planning to completion on a large scale. Educated to degree level with an appropriate professional qualification (MCIOB/RICS etc) Proven project management experience, leading internal and external project teams to deliver effectively.
