We are recruiting a Commercial Manager for one of the UK’s largest and most successful civil engineering contractors. They currently have an opportunity for a Commercial Manager to oversee a £90 million scheme, encompassing all onshore civils works for a 765km high voltage link between the UK and Denmark, supplying sustainable electricity to 1.4 million homes with the installation of 68km of high voltage cabling across Lincolnshire. This opportunity provides continuity of work with the expectation of a lot more work down the east coast in the future pipeline of work.
This is a leadership role, forming part of the senior leadership team for the project. Based from Derby offices this role also requires a site presence a couple of days a week. Other key parts of the project include opencut digs and drilling. There is a requirement to manage 3 commercial staff with development plans. It will be advantageous to have software experience is FIDIC silverbook but this can be trained and forms of contract.
Criteria:
• Someone who is innovative in the way risks and opportunities can be managed through commercial terms.
• A good understanding of commercial agreements (joint venture agreements, contracts and internal trading agreements), and the ability to work with legal on their drafting.
• Excellent time management skills (to get things done to a high standard very quickly).
• An awareness of the quality assurance process for proposals before they are issued to the client.
• Resilience and a determination to succeed to cope with the challenges and frustrations of a bidding environment.
• Experience of highway infrastructure maintenance and scheme delivery and piling or other similar engineering disciplines.
• Qualified to Degree level or equivalent in an engineering or associated discipline relative to the role.

Project Manager – Civil Engineering
We currently have exciting Project Manager opportunities working for one of the largest and most renowned building contractors.
This opportunity falls under their Regional Civil Engineering division based out of their Birmingham offices and covers a regional patch affording their staff members local work and the opportunity for career progression into more senior roles.
Projects range from £10-£50m in value and include Highways and General Civil Infrastructure schemes. As such candidates will ideally come from a contractor background and have experience delivering similar schemes.
They currently have opportunities working on the M1 corridor, between Derby and Leicester as well as other opportunities in Lincolnshire for strong Project Managers.
Requirements:
• CSCS, SMSTS and other relevant professional qualifications.
• Civil Engineering Degree or equivalent (preferable).
• Proven track record delivering Highways schemes as a Project Manager.
