They have an enviable reputation for the training and development programmes for staff and their support for career progression from within.
Contracts Manager
Based in Essex this position reports into the Director and you will be responsible for the delivery of projects based within the London and Home Counties areas. You will manage the Site Agents and teams to ensure projects are completed safely, to strict programme and budget. You will liaise with clients and other relevant parties to build relationships and support the development of the business.
You will:
* A relevant HNC/Degree in Civil Engineering/Construction (highly desirable but not essential)
* Hold NRSWA qualification
* A minimum of two years experience as a Contract/Project Manager
* Ideally with utilities experience
* Reside within reasonable commuting distance.
* Experience of producing SHEQ documents of CDM regulations
* First class communication skills both written and verbal
* Excellent client facing and organisation skills
* Able to motivate and organise site based teams
* IT literate
* Be commercially and contractually aware
* Be flexible when needed
* Have a stable work history
This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and ambitious Contracts Manager seeking to join a contractor that offers progression opportunities.
Salary of £45k-£58k plus package.

Overview of the Role
We are looking to offer an opportunity for a graduate in Civil Engineering or Construction Management to join our team as a trainee Contracts Manager specialising in surfacing & associated civils works on a permanent basis.
The successful candidate will ideally be degree/HNC or similar qualified with a genuine interest and enthusiasm for working in a dynamic construction environment. The role requires working closely with other construction professionals including client engineers, construction managers, quantity surveyors and planning engineers.
The role will be both office and site based. The nature of this makes the possession of a driving licence essential to enable site visits and meeting with Clients / Sub Contractors.
Significant on the job training will be provided to develop the successful candidates knowledge base, by working alongside experienced professionals who have a wealth of expertise. This will be supplemented with off-site learning leading to a professional qualification in surfacing and associated works.
Responsibilities include:
* Supporting the Contracts team – visiting sites, measuring works and accompanying Contract Managers
* Continuing liaison – potentially further meeting with Clients and sub contractors to offer engineering improvements to the scope of works.
* Contributing to the planning and programming – to develop a plan for the works through to completion
* Health and Safety awareness- at planning stage and monitoring through the works
* Cost Management – produce a cost for the works prior to commencement
* To support the briefing of project teams, contractors and suppliers
* Monitor progression of works on site with supervisors and Client
* Measure works on completion and agree any additional works required
* Gathering all information together for invoicing at the end of the project and Contribute to the final assessment of the cost and value of each individual scheme
Skills & Knowledge:
* Civil Engineering educated at degree, HND or HNC level is desirable
* Enthusiasm for working in a fast moving construction environment
* Excellent communication and presentation skills
* Strong maths and IT skills
* An appreciation of health and safety issues. Training will be provided.
* Being confident, professional and flexible
* The ability to work to deadlines
* Being a team player and the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships
* People management and staff supervision
* The ability to work both on your own and as part of a team
Hours:
Your normal working hours shall be between 8:00am and 5:00pm, Monday to Friday. However due to the nature of our business you may be required to work outside of these hours in support of the business.
